Arrival- and holiday informations
General reference for your journey:
The Maierl-Alm is located on 1225 meters above sea level right in the skiing area of Kitzbuehel and can be reached by car all year round. The street up to the Maierl-Alm, the „Krinbergweg“ and the „Krinberg“ is a asphalted mountain-road. In winter the street is cleared of snow daily. Anyhow winter tires are an absolute obligation between november and april! You urgently should also take snow chains that fit on your wheels with you. Sometimes they are necessary for coming up or going down the road.
Alternatively you can leave your car at the parking area in the valley (Attention: officially parking there is not allowed over night) right at the turn to the cable car or in the underground parking in the village (address: Poellmuehle 2, Kirchberg in Tirol). The fee is about € 22,00 per week. Depending on availability, we could possibly organize a free shuttle and pick you up from there. Please contact our reception at 0043 5357 2109-0 in advance.
In history you could always use the part of the motorway from the border to Kufstein Sued without to buy a vignette. Since december 2013 you have to buy a vignette also for this part of the motorway! They use video surveillance for monitoring. If you do not have a valid vignette there is a penalty of € 120,00.
Travelling with navigation system:
Please be aware that there ist he street „Krinbergweg“ (lower part of our road) as well as the street „Krinberg“ (upper part oft the road). The correct address of the Maierl-Alm is: "Krinberg 14, A-6365 Kirchberg in Tirol".
Directions from Munich:
Take the A8 direction Salzburg. At the “Inntal-Dreieck“ (after the Irschenberg) please continue on A93 (A12). Leave the motorway at Woergl Ost.
After leaving the motorway at Woergl Ost you continue on road B170 direction Brixental / Felbertauern. Follow the sign to Kirchberg (don´t take the direction to Kitzbuehel). Via Hopfgarten, Westendorf and Brixen you will get to Kirchberg (about 20km).
At the roundabout in Kirchberg please take the second exit direction Aschau. After about 1km there is a sign directing to the “Maierl-Gondel” (Maierl cable car). Please do not follow this sign! Stay on the main road instead! Precisely 1km after passing the sign that you are leaving Kirchberg you turn left, following the sign „P1“. After 200 meters you reach the station of the cable car Pengelstein. Left hand of the station the mountain road starts. From this point on it is just 3,8km to the Maierl-Alm & Chalets. Just follow the signs “Maierl”. You can park your car outside or in our garage (hight 2,05 meters).
Snow- and slope conditions:
Up-to-date informations as well as the web cams of the skiing are can be found on the homepage of the Kitzbühel mountain railway.
The slopes are getting prepared every evening.
Ski rental:
If you need rental ski / boards or other equipment, you should already collect it on the way to the Maierl-Alm as you are passing by anyway. Our partner is Sport Rudi right in the center of Kirchberg (near the Disco „Der Tiroler“). At Sport Rudi our guests get a discount of 10%. If you pick up your equipment on the day of arrival after noon you will not get charged for that day. To avoid going down to the center again the next day we really recommend to get your equipment when you are passing by on the way to get to the Maierl. Ski school:
The office of the ski school of Joseph Gutensohn is located right at the cable car station of the Maierl-lift down in Kirchberg. Younger ski school participants are picked up in the morning by the trainer at the Maierl-Alm. They will also lead them back to the Alm in the afternoon. Only at the first day, the parents should accompany their children to the ski school. Children or adult beginners that can not manage to take the slope from the maierl-Alm down to the ski school can use our shuttle which goes down at 09:00 a.m. (pre-order is required the day before). The courses always start on sundays and mondays at 09:30 a.m. Courses starting another weekday on request. Ski school Alpin-Profis, Kirchberg in Tirol. Ski passes:
Ski passes (half day passes as well as passes for 1 to 7 days) can be purchased at the reception.
Ski-In/ski-out:
You can start your day on the slope right at the Maierl-Alm & Chalets. In the afternoon you can easyly get back to us on the slope.
Your room / chalet on the day off arrival:
Your room, chalet or apartment is ready latest at 4 p.m. on the day of arrival. Of course you can already check in in the morning and leave your car with us in order to enjoy the day on the ski slopes, our terrace or in ourwellness area (pool, sauna and steambath). To enter the wellness area we will issue key cards for you at the reception. On the day of departure please be so kind to leave the Chalet at 10:00 a.m. and the rooms until 11:00 a.m. latest.
